Holding a party is a crucial part of socializing and enlarging circles for students. There are already existing party planning apps on the app store. However, according to the user interview, instead of these apps, many university students utilize social media to promote their events despite several discomforts. This mainly happens because of their fixed habit of using SNS and the absence of a strong desire to use other options.
WeCircle is party event planning app that allows users to easily promote and invite their events by sending instant party invitations to other users as a host but also to interact with different people by joining events as a guest.
This was an independent project in which I design my own curriculum: timeline, direction, and goals. I chose to direct my attention to rethinking an existing service and revamping it with fresh concepts.

Dominant Image Sharing
WeCircle allows users (hosts) to customize their events by uploading their selected images. This dominant image sharing function can visually attract other users/guests, thereby helping to promote the events.
Multi-functional Chat
WeCircle allows users not only to communicate with other users to socialize but also to immediately send party information details through the simple use of buttons.
Clear Organization: Host & Guest
WeCircle provides organized calendar pages for both hosts and guests. Through this function, users can assort their party schedule in an organized manner and also remind their guests of it in the host page.
Reminder
WeCircle supports users to recognize and recheck their upcoming events by reminding their events in both host scheduling page and profile page.
Design Problem
According to user interview, majority of target audience, university students, utilizes social media to promote their events due to their habit of using the SNS to communicate people even though there are many existing event planning apps. While using social media, they experience several discomfort: time restraint for posting stories, disorganized collection of responses, etc.
Objective
How might I create the event planning app that improves the functionality that social media lacks and maximizes efficiency so that it encourages greater users to utilize it?
Key Insight
The user group highly needs the chat function and an organized layout of party information details.
The chat function is mainly to socialize with other users, and it would be more useful with the reminder function of party information.
The app overall should contain features that minimize the cons of social media (time restriction of posts, disorganization of information) while maximizing its pros (dominant image sharing, instant connection).
